These terms cover your use of SafePlate Travel. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. Please read the safety section carefully.
Important safety disclaimer
SafePlate Travel is a communication aid. It is not medical advice and it is not a guarantee of safety. Translations are generated by software and may contain errors. A restaurant may still misunderstand, make a mistake, or have ingredients we cannot account for.
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you enter and for your own final judgment about what is safe to eat. Always confirm directly with restaurant staff, and if you have a severe allergy, take the precautions you normally would. In a medical emergency, call your local emergency services immediately.
What the service does
SafePlate Travel lets you record your allergies and dietary needs and present them to restaurant staff in another language, including offline. Features may change over time.
Your account
You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for the information you put in your cards. Keep your details accurate and up to date, especially your allergies and any emergency information.
Acceptable use
Use the app for its intended purpose. Do not abuse the translation service, attempt to access other people's data, or use the app to break the law.
Free trial, subscription, and renewal
When you create an account you get a short free trial, typically 3 days, during which you can use SafePlate Travel's full features including translation. The trial does not require a payment method, and we will not charge you when the trial ends. After the trial, translation is paywalled until you choose to subscribe; the rest of the app remains usable.
SafePlate Travel is sold as an annual subscription, priced between $19 and $39 per year. The exact price you will pay is shown on the subscribe screen before you enter any payment details. Your subscription begins, and your first charge is made, only when you complete the subscribe flow yourself.
Once you have subscribed, your subscription renews automatically each year at the same price, charged to the payment method on file, unless you cancel before the renewal date. We will send you a renewal reminder by email a few days before each renewal.
Founding members and other users we have specifically granted free access keep that access as long as the program lasts, with no recurring charge.
Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel at any time. During the free trial there is nothing to cancel: simply don't subscribe and you will not be charged. Once you have an active subscription, open the Account page from your avatar menu, tap Manage subscription, and choose cancel. You will keep access until the end of the year you have already paid for, and you will not be charged again.
We do not offer refunds for partial subscription periods. If you believe you were charged in error, email hello@safeplatetravel.com and we will look into it.
If we change the price of a renewal, we will tell you by email at least 30 days before the change takes effect, so you have time to decide whether to continue.
Availability and liability
The service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. We work hard to keep it accurate and available, but we cannot promise it will be error-free or uninterrupted. To the fullest extent allowed by law, SafePlate Travel is not liable for any harm arising from your use of the app, including any reliance on a translation. Your use is at your own risk, alongside your normal precautions.
Changes
We may update these terms as the product grows; we will change the date above when we do. Continuing to use the app means you accept the updated terms.
